Character Icon

Everyday we are encouraging our youth to become responsible, caring citizens by developing their character and leadership skills. Through character development efforts, our club kids are taught social skills, and how to contribute to the club and their community. They also develop leadership skills through the many opportunities such as Youth of the Year, where kids are introduced to public speaking, written and verbal communication, and community service.

BGCA has implemented the programmatic strategy Every Member, Every Year, designed so that all Clubs, no matter their size or resources, can partner with youth, parents, schools and other community stakeholders to implement at least one of three approaches: academic enrichment and school engagement; targeted dropout prevention; and intensive intervention and case management. Our aim is to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.

Triple Play is a health initiative developed at Boys and Girls Club of America that encourages children to have fun and get healthy by moving! This program is possible by a grant from United Way of Northeast Louisiana through funding provided by The Lincoln Health Foundation. These initiatives develop young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.

Literacy: AfterSchool Kidzlit

kidzLit.pngAfterSchool KidzLit is an exciting, flexible literacy program that’s being used - and praised - at hundreds of afterschool sites nationwide. AfterSchool KidzLit helps motivate kids (grades K-8) to learn by showing them that reading isn't just something they do in school, but something that has real value in every part of their lives.

Our organization is growing and we are always looking for help and volunteers to aid in our after school programs. The addition of meaningful and impeccably stylistic animation engages users on a completely different level.
