The members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana will be introduced to myfutures.net and other career-building curriculums thanks to funding from Comcast/NBC Universal.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana puts a major emphasis on helping kids build great futures. As a result, our staff intentionally plans programs and guest speakers to show members the different career fields out there to help pique their interests and direct them towards certain talents they may not know they possess.

There is nothing more impactful than hearing “You are really good at that.” The funding from Comcast/NBC Universal will help pave the career journey for several members in our organization.

Members will build skills and career interest through digital exploration. This curriculum includes Computer Science, Digital Literacy and Media Making. To make it fun and interactive, the students will earn badges for completion of activities.

Computer Science activities will explore coding, game design, using Scratch, programming languages and building apps, which will go hand-in-hand with our STEM program.

Digital Literacy will include mouse skills, keyboard basics, typing skills, Google Tools, online safety and encryption.

Media Making will focus more on the multimedia and marketing interests. These activities will teach photography, photo lighting, website building, graphic design and creating podcasts.
