Bruce’s Story

Thirteen years ago, several BGC board members and some other community leaders had a get-together we called Color of Hope to raise awareness for the Boys & Girls Club. I heard a personal story of a family that had been impacted by the Boys & Girls Club and my heart was opened not only to a need but also to a solution for many families in our community. For several years instead of hosting a Color of Hope event or fundraiser, we have chosen to do a silent letter campaign. We are grateful for how many of you have given to this campaign throughout the years and we hope you will join us again this year. We are still shy of meeting our total end-of-the-year fundraising goal by $200,000. We hope to reach that number (or exceed it) through this letter campaign.

Gifts received through our Color of Hope letter campaign can make a huge difference in the lives of our children. In 2000, Bruce Rushing became a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana after his mother signed him up for after-school programming. “I attended the club for five years and the relationships I built gave me a foundation for success in my current role as Vice President, Commercial Relationship Banker at Origin Bank”, says Rushing.

Bruce enjoys volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club and most recently mentored our local Youth of the Year to help him prepare for the BGC state competition. He is a wonderful role model to our youth and we are so proud that he is a product of the Boys & Girls Club and willing to give back to our community by serving our youth.

Our Board of Directors is committed to maintaining our status as the premier Boys & Girls Club in the state! To help make that possible, join us in investing in the future of our children.

As you consider making a year-end gift, remember that your donation will help sustain all of the vital programs and activities at the Boys & Girls Clubs of North LA. Enclosed is a giving card and envelope for your convenience. You may also donate online at BGCofNL.org. Thank you for joining me in changing lives in our community.
