Janet Wilson is Named Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year

The Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Janet Wilson has earned the title of the 2021 Ambassador of the Year. The Ambassadors are a prestigious group of Chamber members who want to volunteer their time to be a more active member within the Chamber as well as within the Ruston-Lincoln business community.

Janet Binns Wilson is a native of Crossett, Arkansas but fell in love with Lincoln Parish after attending Louisiana Tech. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1981, later continuing her education at Louisiana Tech completing a Master’s degree in Elementary Education in 1983. Her love for the community sparked while educating the youth in Lincoln Parish Schools between the years of 1991-1995.

Realizing the importance of family, Janet decided to take a step back from teaching in order to spend more time with her two beautiful children Zach (35) and Ashley (33). During this time, she built a successful business with Arbonne International, noticing her gift of creating connections through sales.

In 2009, Janet Wilson began her tenure of over a decade at the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana as Director of Development. This became her dream job – serving children and connecting people who have the heart to support this mission. Through this role, she spends her time working with the entire Lincoln Parish community, matching those who want to make a difference with the youth that truly need our help. Ten years after she began the journey as Director of Development, she was chosen to attend the Philanthropy Leadership Institute in Indianapolis, on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She was also nominated for Regional Director of Development of the Year in 2021. With this caring heart, Janet has exceeded all fundraising goals at the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana since her start in 2009.

In alignment with her values, Janet Wilson centers her life around her relationship with God and her family. She prioritizes her work at the Boys & Girls Club, and her role as an ambassador at the Chamber of Commerce. She is also a lifetime member of Junior Auxiliary of Ruston. Most importantly, Janet and her husband, Steve Wilson regularly serve at Christ Church of Ruston in various ways. As a family they enjoy spending time with their parents, children, and the six grandchildren they adore. Janet is so grateful for this recognition and the opportunity to serve her community.
