Taco Bell fuels the Power Hour Program at Evergreen Unit

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana has been awarded a $22,910 Taco Bell Grant that will fuel the Power Hour program at the Evergreen Unit in West Monroe.

The Power Hour program is the first thing members participate in after grabbing a healthy snack when they arrive to the Clubhouse afterschool. Power Hour is a tutoring/homework assistance program aimed at improving academic performance in school, especially in the areas of reading and math.

The impact of Power Hour are measured by grade promotions, improved behavior and conflict resolution. The funding from Taco Bell will directly impact approximately 90 members with 90 percent of the member attending Title I schools within close proximity to our West Monroe Clubhouse off Evergreen Street.

These schools consist of lower-income student population who are behind or have high chances of falling behind. This makes programs like Power Hour even more crucial for these children.
